How does 01 work?
01 rolls to capture dimensions and reference curves of objects, then logs, converts and shares the dimensions and curves through your mobile phone. It contains a proprietary sensor system that is reading multiple things at once and using a proprietary algorithm producing dimensions and 3D reference curves.
What is the difference between 01 + Pen, Pencil Stylus and 01Go?
01 Pen, pencil and stylus devices come with a writing instrument of your choice. 01Go is a pure device that you can hang on your keychain, bag or keep in your pocket.
How accurate is 01?
01 uses a proprietary magnetic sensor and gear system to measure quite accurately. Distance sensor is accurate up to 0.1mm, but the ultimate accuracy depends on the user and we generally see error larger than 0.1mm. When using the 3D to capture curves, users must remember this is a reference curve, perfect for understanding sections, curve shapes and outlines. 01 + Pro Cloud 3D produced reference curves are not suitable for high precision part fitting, and will have some minor variance. Industrial designers and 3D modellers find the ability to get these fast reference curves extremely useful.
How do you measure straight on a wall?
Just like a measuring tape, perfectly measuring a long straight surface is hard. However, if you keep arm relatively firm, walking with some care from one end to the other, the result is surprisingly precise and consistent with what you would get from a measuring tape. We are also working on ways to make this experience even easier.
Who is 01 for?
01 is an essential tool for everyone who makes. Designers, engineers, architects, tailors, carpenters and DIY warriors, for example. It’s the ultimate concept tool. But it’s also for the hobbyists, and even kids studying geometry, shop or physics. If you think about it, dimensions are incredibly important. We put up pictures, buy furniture and appliances based on size, and shop for clothes that fit best. 01 is meant to equip most of us with the most convenient, most intuitive way to capture and use dimensions every day. It is also thoughtfully personal. It’s crafted and elegant, and you can get your signature or initial etched. Like a chef’s knife, this is a perfect treat for ourselves or a gift for someone creative.
How do I connect my 01
- Please make sure your iPhone’s Bluetooth is turned on.
- Open the app on your phone.
- Turn on your 01.
- To turn on, hold down the the top of the device for 2 seconds until the red laser is visible and still.
- Once your app is open and you have turned on your device, the measurement digits will turn from grey to a solid white in colour.
How do I save a measurement?
Once you have completed a dimension, tap Save on the bottom right corner and add a title to your dimension. This will also be the title for your log card.
What is a dimension card?
A dimension card is a card with saved dimensions of whatever you are measuring. You can add a title, description and picture to the card. These dimensions have a feature to be public or private based on your setting.
How do I use the scale feature?
Click the menu bar in the top left corner of your app, select settings. Under Measurement, you will see the “Scale”. Tap Scale, and set the scale you’d like to use.
How do I share a measurement?
Select a saved log card by clicking on the menu bar in the top left corner, tap onto the desired log card you’d like to share, then tap the share icon (bottom center) to view your sharing options.
Can I change / edit measurements after saving them to my log card?
Yes. Tap the menu bar on the upper left corner to view your saved cards. Select the card you wish to change/edit. Tap on the dimension you would like to clear and retake the dimension. To save, select update on the bottom right corner, or cancel if you do not wish to save the new dimensions.
What is 3D Cloud?
01 collects multiple sensor data then extrapolates the 3D path you roll on, using a proprietary algorithm. If you become a 3D Cloud User (a subscription service), you will be able to download reference curves in STEP files for use in your favorite CAD software. It’s the fastest way to capture reference 3D curves.
How much does 3D Cloud cost?
3D Cloud is a subscription, with 3 pricing options. 3 months: $39, 12 Months: $96, or 24 Months: $144. Each subscription renews at the respective interval at the same price. First time you order, training wheels are on us, with additional training wheels available from from our store. Please contact us for enterprise pricing.
What software can I use to work with reference curves?
You can import your 3D curves into any CAD software that opens STEP files.
Can I return my subscription?
Subscriptions are not refundable, however you can always cancel the renewal before it becomes due.
Can I share/send the 3D curves I have captured to another 01 user?
Yes, as long as you are an active 3D Cloud subscriber.
Can I export to a vector file?
We are working on this feature, but not supporting at this time.
You absolutely should. The result is much better. Advanced users can get results similar to those with training wheels after some practice lining up the device so that the indicator is always perfectly 90 degrees to the surface, but we don’t advise trying before spending some time on the training wheels.
What happens when my subscription is up?
Not to worry, your subscription will automatically renew, unless you cancel prior to the renewal.
Can 3D Cloud export dxf. Files?
Not at this point. The 3D Cloud exports STEP files at this time.
Does my curve have to be continuous?
Yes. Each curve captured must be continuous, otherwise they will be separated, unrelated curves.
